Professor Dr Raja Amin Bin Raja Mokhtar

Prof Dr Amin is an accomplished medical professional with a journey in the field of surgery and healthcare. He holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Malaya, awarded in 1988, followed by a Master of Surgery in 1994. His dedication and expertise led to prestigious fellowships, including the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCSEd) in 2000, and the Fellowship of the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia (FAMM).

In 2000, he embraced the role of consultant cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon at the cardiothoracic department of one of the private hospitals in Johor. Prof Dr Amin further contributed to the field as a visiting consultant cardiothoracic surgeon at KPJ Puteri Specialist Hospital from 2001 to 2009 and Sultanah Aminah Hospital from 2001 to 2005.

His journey culminated with his current role as head, professor and senior consultant cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon in the Cardiothoracic Surgery Division of the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya, which he assumed in 2009.

Prof Dr Amin's notable publications reflect his commitment to advancing medical knowledge, including research on topics like aortic injuries, sleep apnoea, and more. He is affiliated with several professional organisations, including the Malaysian Medical Association, College of Surgeons of Malaysia (CSAMM), Academy of Medicine of Malaysia (AMM), and the Malaysian Association for Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (MATCVS), where he has held leadership roles.
